This application provides selectable GoogleMaps markers for the Asheville Urban Trail, a walking tour ofAsheville, NC with 30 stations that highlights the uniquearchitecture, people, and history of the city. The Urban Trail isdivided into five distinct eras, and each era has a symbol -- eachera in this application is represented by a different color. Theera symbols are carved into pink granite blocks placed in thesidewalk along the way. Followed in its entirety, the Urban Trailwalking tour takes approximately two hours to complete.The map in this application identifies each of the 30 stationsby its number. All 30 stations on the trail include a piece of artand/or a bronze plaque that describe(s) the station. Asheville FM (Asheville Free Media) is avolunteer-based, grassroots community radio station created byFriends of Community Radio, a non-profit entity. The idea forAsheville FM was hatched in early 2009. Radio lovers from WesternNorth Carolina came together to serve pipin' hot sounds and havefun while doing it.Our goal is to add to and reflect the rich stew of arts,culture, and community involvement that is Asheville. We want tohear music, news, and the unusual all produced right here in ourneck of the woods. We want to hear sounds from around the world,discerned and distilled just for us by our neighbors. We want tohelp make connections between diverse groups and support the localeconomy of ideas. We believe people from all parts of our communityshould have a chance to let their voice be heard.Asheville FM began broadcasting as an internet radio station inSeptember of 2009. We plan to also be broadcasting on the FMairwaves soon following Federal Communications Commission approvalof our Low Power FM application to serve our community even better.Sound good?
